USGP is seeking a Orthopedic Technicians to work on MacDill AFB.
Duties:
- Assists physicians with patient care; properly fits and applies pre-operative braces, crutches, and other soft goods; assists in preparation for and application of casts and orthopedic appliances; changes dressings; removes sutures, casts, and splints.
- Assists physicians and nurses with orthopedic procedures, including wound care, aspirations, minor surgical procedures, fracture reductions, etc.; instructs patients in cast and traction care and the use of orthopedic appliances.
- Maintains clean and well-stocked cast and soft goods room; clean and maintain patient rooms, including restocking supplies and removing sharps containers as necessary; orders special supplies, medications, and/or equipment.
- Coordinates data collection resources for the clinic information systems.
- Remains current with orthopedic trends, care and supplies; performs other duties as assigned.
- May periodically be needed to man the front desk of clinic: answer phone and take messages, schedule follow-ups, pre-op and post-op appointments, scan documents into patient electronic health records, fax documents to off-base clinics.
- Perform a variety of administrative duties in support of the clinic: input patient profiles in electronic record system; compose necessary correspondence, such as letters, doctor’s notes, and requests for information; process DME referrals, orient new clinic staff on location of various files, forms, and supplies; make adjustments to provider’s schedules as needed.
- Perform a variety of surgical scheduling duties as needed: compose pre-op paperwork, including surgical packets; schedule and coordinate hospital pre-op appointments along with CT scan appointments for joint cases; compose paperwork for cancelled cases; other surgical scheduling duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree: Certificate.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent with additional training or education; supplemented with one (1) year of related experience in an accredited hospital or clinic which results in familiarity with and knowledge of hospital or clinic routines and procedures in orthopedics, including orthopedic trauma service, pediatrics, hand, foot and ankle, sports, and/or spine.
- Certification: Maintain a national certification by American Society of Orthopedic Professionals (ASOP) or National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists. (NBCOT)
- Experience: one year of related experience in an accredited health care hospital
Job Types: Contract, Full-time
Pay: $22.75 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
